Mellitus Manager 4.5
The "Missing Link" In
Diabetes ControlMellitus
Manager is a Windows software program. It solves the hard-to-interpret logbook
problem. With the use of a special cable that connects your glucose meter to your
computer, it automatically loads the data from your meter, processes it and then prints it
out in different formats which will help you get the most from your doctor. Your
doctor will be able to quickly give you good advice. It doesn't matter if your
doctor has been carefully reviewing your logbook during your quarterly visits or if he's
just been glancing at it. With Mellitus Manager, you can provide your doctor with
the precise information he needs to help you keep your blood sugar at close-to-normal
levels.

Mellitus Manager provides an easy to read
Electronic Log Book, valuable Charts at the push of a button, and an intuitive User
Interface. Click image for screen shots.
Mellitus Manager was created by Dr. Timothy Bailey,
a computer programmer and practicing endocrinologist who has been seeing people with
diabetes on a daily basis for over 10 years. Like virtually all doctors who treat
people with diabetes, he's seen the poor quality of the logbooks his patients have been
bringing him. Dr. Bailey decided to do something about the quality of care he could
provide for his patients... in spite of the lousy logbooks. So when he designed
Mellitus Manager, he realized he would have to make it easy for patients to use and still
provide doctors with the information they needed to effectively treat their patients. |
Mellitus Manager Is Easy
To Use
Mellitus Manager was designed so that
you and your doctor can work together to provide you with the best control of your blood
sugar. Neither you nor your doctor have to be computer wizards. It has a
graphical interface which makes it intuitive and easy for you to use. All you have
to do is make sure you test your blood sugar using your glucose meter and (if your meter
has the right features) enter the events which can affect your blood sugar level.
Then with a simple cable connection and a few clicks of your mouse, you can load all the
data into the computer.Once you have the
data in your computer, then all you do is specify what information you want Mellitus
Manager to print for you. Here's a sample of some of your options.
This pie chart is the Goal View. It shows you what
percentage of the time you were able to meet your goal. One of the secrets for motivating
yourself is to set a target range for your blood sugar. Another secret is that
performance improves when people get constant and immediate feedback. Now you and
your diabetes team can set an achievable goal for your blood sugar levels. Then
Mellitus Manager measures your progress so you can see just how well you're doing... and
give you the motivation to set even higher goals for yourself.
Here's a bar graph of average blood sugars at different
times of the day for a two week period, both before and after meals. As expected,
the post -meal reading are higher than the pre-meal readings. You can use this
information to make adjustments in the amount of medication you take or the amount and
types of food you eat. For example, after looking at the graph, your doctor may
recommend increasing the mourning medication dose or eating a smaller lunch.
We've even included an enhanced logbook format.
The advantage of this particular format is that it's familiar to your doctor so
he's comfortable with it. Most doctors would be absolutely thrilled if their
patients handed them a logbook that looked this good. It has all the information
that almost all doctors want, but in addition, it has a graph of your blood sugar for each
day. Now you and your doctor can tell at a glance how well you've been doing for any time
period you select. You both can see if you're maintaining a good average and
minimizing fluctuations between highs and lows. Like all of the graphs and tables
that Mellitus Manager produces, you can print it and hand it to your doctor.
And these are just three of twenty-seven different
ways you can look at the data! |

management. This software turns health professionals and patients into pros at management.
Includes all the tools needed to visu-analyze blood sugar data in a One Touch® meter. It

"When I first showed the printout to my
doctor, he was very impressed with the output and what it showed. He was also quite
impressed with how I was doing with my sugar - something I could not have done without
Mellitus Manager. Since then, because my glucose is so much under control, he has taken me
off oral medication. Now I only track diet and exercise and blood sugars with the
Manager."
Richard Ford, End User Support, Information Service
Department, Children's Hospital

"I'm continuing to enjoy using Mellitus
Manager. My patients are liking it, too, and we are getting a lot out of it. I still have
not read one word of the manual, but plan on it sometime."
Robert Fuentes, MD
Long Island, NY
"This is the first logical and readable
program I have ever seen."
Daniel Einhorn, MD

"Because my goal for the software was a
system to download my One-Touch for a non-computer-using diabetologist, I personally rate
Mellitus Manager the best of all the software I've reviewed."
