SUMMARY

message appears saying the download was interrupted. This is caused by an error in
the download component and is resolved in the BMC update.
SOLUTION
Download BMC
Update and install it on your computer.

SUMMARY
Mellitus Manager 4.5 with Service
Pack 2 can download the LifeScan FastTake meter using LifeScan's latest cable and adapter.
There are two possible reasons why Mellitus Manager cannot download your FastTake
meter. First, is that Service Pack 2 is not installed, or second, you are not using
the latest cable assembly from LifeScan.
SOLUTION
| 1. |
Click
to download Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 will add and additional option under
the LifeScan tab to download the FastTake. |
| 2. |
FastTake requires the latest cable assembly
by LifeScan. There are two parts to the cable assembly, the main cable and
adapter. The adapter is part number 020-068-01 and the main cable must be part
number 010-389-01. If the main cable has a different part number, call LifeScan at
1-800-227-8862 and request that they send you the latest cables. |
If the above does not resolve your problem click here to troubleshoot further. Note: FastTake,
unlike the Profile, must be turned off during the download.

SUMMARY
After installing Mellitus Manager and you
try to run it, you may get an error that says: "GSW.EXE & GSWDLL version
mismatch". Then after clicking OK, it says "Can't load Custom Control
DLL:'C\Mellitus\Graphx.VBX". Then after clicking OK again, "Mellitus
Manager Unexpected error; quitting" error comes up.
What has happened is that another application has installed
a different version, most likely an older version, of the GSW files and a conflict has
occurred. You must search your computer for these files and remove any duplicates.
SOLUTION
Click Start, move to Find,
and select Files or Folders. Where it says Look In
select your hard drive, (C:). Where it says Named enter the name of one
of the graphic files listed below and click Find Now. Search the files
sequentially looking for duplicates. You will find one file located in the C:\Mellitus
directory. If you find a duplicate, move the duplicate file to a backup floppy disk and
make sure the duplicate has been removed from your computer. Restart Mellitus Manager and
all will work well.
Graphic Files
graphx.vbx
gsw16.exe
gswag16.dl
gswdll16.dll

SUMMARY
Sometimes Mellitus Manager will not print
the One Page Summary and the hourglass remains on the screen. This is an error with
the Glucose Line graph plotting particular points and is resolved in Service Pack 2.
SOLUTION
Download Service Pack 2 and install it on your
computer.

SUMMARY
When downloading data from the AccuChek
Complete into the Mellitus Manager it will sometimes download data into the wrong date,
such as year 3899 or other unusual dates. This occurs because of a particular
setting in Windows 95, 98 or NT called Short Date Format. There are many choices you
may choose to display your Short Date, but only one worked with the Mellitus Manager
download, mm/dd/yy.
SOLUTION
Download Service Pack 2 and install it on your
computer.

SUMMARY
When downloading from the AccuChek Complete
into Mellitus Manager the Insulin Pump values are not downloaded. This is because
the function does not exist in the AccuChek Complete and may even corrupt glucose
readings.
WORK AROUND
Download the Insulin Pump readings from the
MiniMed pump into the Mellitus Manager or enter the bolus into standard Insulin areas of
both the AccuChek Complete and Mellitus Manager.
STATUS
This is a known issue.

SUMMARY
Every downloading problem is caused by one
of the following:
SOLUTION
Close the Mellitus Manager main
application. Open Meter Finder, a program that comes with Mellitus Manager found in
the Mellitus Manager 4.5 program group. To use Meter Finder, select your device and
click Start. Meter Finder will search your COM ports for the selected device.
If your device was not found try the following steps and run Meter Finder after each step.
| 1. |
Check the batteries or power plugs for good
electrical contact. |
| 2. |
Make sure cable connections are snug.
(When connecting the AccuChek Complete, make sure the connection snaps tight.
MiniMed pumps must rest flatly in the Com Station to read properly.) |
| 3. |
Make sure no other programs are holding the
serial port to themselves. (Palm Pilot has a HotSync program that holds the serial
port until you shut it down.) |
| 4. |
Check that your Windows System Properties
does not have any conflicts with the COM ports and IRQs. (Check with the manufacture
of the computer or the vendor you bought it from.) |
| 5. |
Check that the cable is connected to a live
serial port. Because the connector fits does not always mean that it will
work. (Check with the manufacture of the computer where you can find a live serial
port on your computer.) |

SUMMARY
Mellitus Manager is designed to download
the bolus and basal rates from the MiniMed Pumps. If needed you can manually enter
any bolus or basal. An edit or delete feature was not implemented.
WORK AROUND
MiniMed's Com Station is due to release in
September 1999. Without the Com Station it is suggested that you use Mellitus
Manager's standard insulin features to enter your bolus rates.
STATUS
This is a known issue and will be resolved
in Mellitus Manager 5.
